I have been doing hair for over 14 years, and am a licensed color specialist and make-up artist. I have always loved the beauty and fashion industry, and early on was able to experience the thrill of bringing out the beauty and best in another person. I was hooked! I studied cosmetology at Virginia Farrell Cosmetology School in Canton Michigan and attended Washtenaw Community College with a focus on Interior Design.
I have worked in Saline for the past 12 years and love the community as well as its people. I opened Renew Salon and Spa in 2008 to put my own personal stamp on the beauty industry, in a unique atmosphere that I hope you will enjoy. I love what I do, and take pride in my work, my team, and my business.
The beauty industry has allowed me to continually learn and grow as a stylist. I keep up to date on new trends and styling techniques, which keeps my job interesting, and allows me to provide the best in beauty to my clients. In 2012, Renew Salon and Spa joined the Aveda Family and is currently an Aveda Exclusive Salon. We share Aveda’s passion for quality, their focus on eco-friendly, botanical-based products that enrich our hair, skin, and nails while minimizing waste and environmental impact.
My other passion is my wonderful family. My husband and I have been blessed with two amazing kids, a son and daughter. They are my biggest motivators and keep me grounded. Renew Salon and Spa is an extension of the love I have for my family, and the quality and care we provide in our menu of services reflects that.

My name is Kisten Kerns and I obtained my license 20 years ago from State College of Beauty. Since then I have continued my love of hair with advanced training and education through Aveda, Goldwell, Wella, and Toni & Guy Academies, as well as classes in New York and Dallas. I am also certified in Keratin Smoothing systems through Peter Coppola, a service that reduces frizz, curl and drying time, while increasing strength, shine, and manageability of hair.
I consider myself a color specialist, but my passion is helping clients feel their best with modern and youthful looks that still work with their age or professional lifestyles. Hair is the accessory that you wear daily, with every outfit. It’s important that it matches your personal style and looks beautiful every day.

I can’t remember a time that I didn’t love doing hair! It is an incredible way to help others truly feel and look their best. I attended the Ann Arbor Douglas J Aveda Institute in 2011 and I have been licensed since 2012.
I am a certified color specialist and love creating custom color formulas for each one of my clients to meet their specific requests. Whether it is a simple touch-up on existing color, rainbow colors or a complete color change, I always strive for the perfect results!
As a stylist, I believe that it is my responsibility to continue my education and keep up with the latest trends and techniques. I feel that in return, I am able to give my clients their own personal, trendy style. Along with the knowledge of how to recreate their hairstyles daily, to help eliminate bad hair days!
Being able to form a personal, friendly relationship with my clients is very important to me, but nothing is more important than my clients leaving my chair happy and smiling, with the results they wanted!

I truly love my Renew team; we have created a family-like environment for both staff and clients. I believe in having a great consultation, listening and being on the same page is the most important aspect of achieving the desired style. I attended Douglas J Aveda Institute and received my cosmetology license in 2003. I have continued my education in New York and Dallas, Texas. I also make it a priority to attend yearly hair shows and classes to keep up-to-date with the newest trends and education.
I specialize in highlighting. I feel that highlighting natural color to add dimension and movement is a low-maintenance technique to freshen up your look. I believe in Aveda’s products and ingredients, as well as their mission of connecting beauty, environment, and overall well-being.

I can be described as an easy-going, coffee-drinking, Harry Potter enthusiast with a soft spot for a good rom-com or superhero flick. I come from a large, loud, and loving family whom I hold in very high esteem. They have played a crucial role in my development as a stylist today.
Having graduated from Huron Valley Beauty Academy in 2006, I have been a practicing stylist for over 15 years with certifications in Redken and Matrix color, as well as L’Oreal Balayage Highlighting. During this time I also graduated with a Bachelors in Business Management from Grand Valley State University. This additional education has helped me establish myself in the beauty industry and gain a competitive edge.
My greatest strength would be my color formula precision and design. Additionally, I love teaching my clients how to choose and use products and tools to achieve their desired results, as most of my styling focuses on what can be created at home.
This profession has been my passion since I was five years old. I knew at a young age that making others happy is what makes me happy, and being able to use my creativity to give others an outlet to express their individuality has been incredibly rewarding.
In the near future, I am attending certification courses for Bellami extensions and Microblading as well as becoming an educator for young professionals looking to pursue a career in the beauty industry.
